R-VILLAGES

SCF, in collaboration with Dr. Patricia Wright’s Centre ValBio, created the R-Villages Exchange Program to benefit the school communities of Ranomafana, Madagascar and Rhinebeck, New York.

Through interactive presentations, curriculum supplements and teacher-led activities, students in both countries learn about a culture and environment vastly different from their own whilst raising awareness about the importance of conservation.  SCF aims to provide funding for travel between the two countries, so educators and “student ambassadors” can experience each other’s lives at first hand.

Rhinebeck students raised over $1,000 for Ranomafana after two cyclones devastated the region.

Rhinebeck educators use creative ways to teach students about Madagascar’s flora and fauna.
